"THE GD3L IN THE TAXI."-

The first performance in New Zealand of "The Girl in the Taxi" will be given at His Majesty's Theatre this evening, commencing at eight o'clock. The occasion is of special interest, sinoe the principals will all make their first appearance in this part of the world. Mr. C. H. Workman's reputation as a comedian has preceded mm, while the company also includes Mr. w. H. Rawlins, Miss Florence Vie, Miss Daisy Yates, Miss Helen Hobson > Messrs. Fred. Maguire, Alfred' Frith, Chris Wren, Field Fisher, Paul Plunkett, Hugh Huntley, Gwen Hrfghes, Cecil Bradley, Mane Eaton and Dorothy Brunton The score is by Jean Gilbert, whose popular music largely contributed to the success ot the musical comedy in Australia. KING GEORGE THEATRE. The excellent programme of pictures presented at the King George Theatre on Monday attracted further large audiences throughout yesterday. The current series includes the twelfth episode of the Master Key" serial story, and three firstclass dramas, named respectively " The Man the Mission and the Maid'* "Law of the Wilds," and "Stolen Jewels." The programme will be screened to-day for the last time. KING'S THEATRE. The large audience which attended the Kings Theatre last night showed keen enjoyment of the entertaining series of pictures, which comprises the current programme. "The Third Floor Flat." episode four of the Million Dollar Mystery » aroused great interest and sections of the film were loudly applauded. The supporting pictures were also well received. The series will be repeated nightly this week. RED CROSS CONCERT. The programme arranged for the concert to be held in the Town Hall to-morrow evening in aid of the French Red Cross Funds, gives promise of being most enjoyable. A number of popular artists are giving their assistance, among them Madame Wielaert, Mrs Patrick Cole, Miss Edith Whitelaw, Mr' Barry Coney, Mr. W. Walter, and Mr! Wallace Atkinson. Madame Wielaert's , items will include "Ju Suis Titania " from Ambroise Thomas's "Mignon " Mr ™ an (^ ney J will Bin " Drake Goes West (Sanderson). Professor Maxwell Walker will contribute selections from Mr Lloyd „ George's historic war speech' Selected items and accompaniments will be played by the Orchestral Society, under the baton of Mr. J. Wielaert, who is also director of the concert. The concert will be under the auspices of .the Auckland French Club, in connection with an appeal being made throughout the Dominion for funds. SCENIC RAILWAY TOURS. A new programme of pictures will be presented at the Scenic Railway Tours Theatre, opposite the post office, to-day. The new films will show views taken on several well-known tourist railways in different parts of the world, and will be screened continuously from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Each entertainment lasts one hour. PICTURE ENTERTAINMENTS. A comedy entitled "War," appears at the Lyric and West End Theatres. "A Daughter of the People"' is the chief film at the Princess Theatre. The Grand Theatre is presenting a drama entitled "Whom the Gods Would Destroy. "The Underworld of London" is the chief film at the Queen's Theatre. Episode four of "The Million Dollar Mystery " is the .chief attraction at Everybody's Theatre.
