PERSONAL PARAGRAPHS. CAPTAIN R. WYMAN. Mr. Wm. H. Wyman, of Avondale, has received advice that his son, Captain Ralph Wyman, of the 3rd, Auckland, Mounted Rifles, is now convalescent in a hospital at Cairo. Captain Wyman was wounded in the left arm. " , SERGEANT-MAJOR J. B. HOBBS. No further news has been received as to the whereabouts of Sergeant-Major J. : B. Hobbs, of the 16th, Waikato, Regiment, who was reported during the. past month to be missing. Sergeant-Major Hobbs was at one time a sergeant in the •2nd Scots Guards, and saw service with that regiment in South Africa. For four years prior to leaving for the front with the main body he acted as sergeant-major to the 16th." Waikato. Regiment, being stationed at Hamilton, where his wife now 1 resides. CORPORAL F. W. C. BAGNALL. Corporal F. W. C. Bagnall, Canterbury Mounted Rifles, who has been wounded in the shoulder and left foot, was born at Turua 27 years ago. He attended the Turua and Bayfield public schools and Giles's College, and subsequently took up farming. He was at Ngaroma. in the King Country, when he enlisted with the fourth reinforcements. CORPORAL H. HATRICK. Corporal H. Ha trick, of Northcote, reported wounded and in hospital in London, was born and brought up at Hamilton, where he attended the high school, and subsequently the Normal School at Auckland. He was a member of the New Zealand Native Rifles and had won a gold medal for shooting, having been sent twice to Trentha n, once to compete in the shooting competition and another time as a signaller. He won the welter-weight wrestling match at the first territorial camp at Papatoetoe.. and represented ! Southern Wairoa as a footballer. He gave jup his farm at Brookby in order to go to | the front with the main body. His parents 1 reside at- Northcote, and his twin brother, Mr. Victor HUrick, is farming at Hunua. He also has a brother with the Australian forces, who is reported as missing, and ' another in the Trentham camp, Lieutenant i Hatrick. J CORPORAL W. S. BURNS. i Corporal W. S. Burns, of the Auckland j Infantry, who icft with the fifth reinforcements, and was wounded on August 8, is I making good progress. He has sent a cablegram to that effect from London, adding that he was wounded in the shoulder.

CORPORAL P. G. PEARCE. j A copy of an Army Order, in which the | following paragraph appears, has been re-1 ceived from Gallipoli —" Headquarters, July 25, 1915. Complimentary. Lieutenant General Sir W. R. Bird wood, K.C.5.1., C.8., CLE.. D.5.0.. has great pleasure in publishing the name of Corporal P. G. Pearce, Field Troop, New Zealand Engineers, who is reported as having behaved with exceptional gallantry." Corporal I'earce distinguished himself by fixing obstacles in full view of, and within thirty yards of the enemy's trenches, and -was twice wounded while so engaged. Corporal Pearcs is a brother of Mr. H. Pearce. of the Public Trust Office. He is 27. years of age, and was born in the. Coromandel district. He entered the Valuation Department as a cadet, and was in that branch of the Public Service when he enlisted. TROOPER R. HUNTER. Trooper Roland Hunter. 3rd, Auckland, Mounted Rifles, who was killed in action on August 27, was the fifth son of Mr. T. Hunter, of Greenhithe. He was 28 years of age. Trooper Hunter was born at "Ponsonby and attended the. Bayfield School. He was engaged in agricultural pursuits on his father's farm in the Greenhithe district when he enlisted. Trooper Hunter was a member of the old Seddon Horse for many years. He was keenly interested in motor racing in the early days of the New Zealand Power Boat Association, having raced in the Regal I. and Regal II: TROOPER F. F. M. SPERRY. Trooper Francis Fabian Matterson Sperry, 4th, Waikato, Mounted Rifles, wounded on August 25, is the eldest son of Mrs. M. Cullerne, Summer Street, Ponsonby. Born in Chicago, he came to New Zealand with his parents in his younger days and received his education at the Parnell school. Trooper Sperry was engaged in farming in the Cambridge district when he enlisted. He was well known in : Y.M.C.A. circles and was a keen athlete.

TROOPER J. HELL. Trooper Jack Hill, wounded on August 27 while serving with the Otago Mounted Rifles, is a broker of Mr. G. E. Hill, of Clarence Street, Pon.«-<nhy. He is 22 years of age. Trooper Hill" was born at EUerelie, and resided there until three years ago, when he moved to Ponsonby. He was well known in building circles in Auckland, having been in the employ of Mr. E. A. Pearce, builder, of Epsom. He was a keen Rugby footballer and played for the North Shore juniors. He left with the third reinforcements in the Auckland Rifles, but was subsequently transferred to the Otago troop. TROOPER G. D. CARGILL. Trooper George David Cargill, Auckland Mounted Rifle*, reported to have been wounded, and now very ill at Malta, is the youngest son of Mr. Thcs. Cargill, chief engineer of the steamer Manuka, and Mrs. Cargill, Basque Road, Eden Terrace. He is 21 years of age and was educated at the Marist Brothers' college. His elder brother, T. E. Cargill, is also at the front. ■- TROOPER I. D. McLAREN. Trooper Isaac D. McLaren, Otago Mounted Rifles, reported to have been wounded on August 21, is the fourth son of Mr. 1). McLaren. Lichfield Street, j Parnell. He is 26 years of age. and was J bom in Edinburgh, Scotland, arriving in I New Zealand with his parents about J seven years ago. He was in the service of the Union Steam Ship Company when he enlisted with the main body, and was well known in the Island trade and in the South, having acted as purser on the company's boats for many years. SAPPKR R. C. R. FERGUSON". Sapper R. C. R, Ferguson, Field Engii neers, who has been slightly wounded, but iis reported to be still doing duty, is the I youngest son of Mr. Thomas Ferguson, of j Penrose He left New Zealand with the main Expeditionary Force. Sapper Ferguson was bom at Penrose, and is 22 years old. He was educated at the Ellerslieand Onehunga District High schools, and when he volunteered was employed as a j clerk in Messrs. Irvine and Stevenson's Auckland effice. He was keenly interested in the boy scout movement, and formed the first troop at Penrose and was Tilso assistant scoutmaster of St. Aidan's troop. I When war broke out, Sapper Ferguson held I non-commissioned rank in No. 3 Company, 1 but he resigned his stripes in order that j ho might be accepted without delay.

PRIVATE M. T. HARVEY. Private M. T. Harvey, who is reported to have died of wounds on September 6, was the youngest son of Mr. John Harvey, Vincent "Road, Mount Albert. He left with the fourth reinforcements for the Auckland Infantry, and according to the last letter received from him, written after an absence of five months, none of the letters'or parcels sent from his home had reached him. Private Harvey was born in Auckland and was 33 years old. He was educated at the Beresford Street school. During the past five years, he had been engaged in farming in the Tamaki ! district.
