AMERICA AND AUSTRIA.
SUPPLIES OF MUNITIONS.
EXPORT PROTESTED AGAINST
Amsterdam, September 26.
Austria has replied to the American Note regarding munitions sent to the allies, declaring that she has not changed her opinion regarding the American export of munitions. She does not object to normal traffic in war materials, but says the United States is militarised because economic life has become subservient to the production of war material on the greatest possible scale. Concentration upon this means effective support to the allies, and the excessive export of munitions is inadmissible, even if supplied to both belligerent parties.
