ONEHUNGA COUNCIL.

A meeting of the Onehunga Borough Council was held last evening. There were present : The Mayor, Mr. J. Rowe, and Messrs. I. Lomas. E. V. Sutherland, H. J. Davies, W. W. Warnock, E. J. Higgins, and T. H. Pardington.

The Mangere Road Board, as the controlling authority of the new Mangere Bridge, wrote inquiring if the council would subscribe towards the cost of installing and maintaining a suitable number of lights on the bridge. The matter was referred to committee.

A letter was read from the PostmasterGeneral respecting the acouiring of a site for a new post office near the Royal Oak Corner. He stated that the transfer of the site had been completed. The One-tree Hill Road Board is willing to carry out the work of prading and improving Cameron -Street, and to pay half the cost. A letter to that effect was read by the town clerk. The Onehunga Streets Committee reported that the work was estimated to cost £72. The council agreed to pay half this amount. The council adopted a design submitted by Mr. J. Park for the proposed roll of honour to contain the names of all men going to the war from Onehunga. The roll of honour will be placed in the Carnegie Librarv when completed, and is expected to cost about £175.
