AMBASSADOR IN TROUBLE

DR. DUMBA'S POSITION.

(Received September 26, 5 p.m.) Washington, September 25.

The State Department has notified Austria that it cannot allow Dr. Dumba, the Austrian Ambassador to America, to return home upon leave of absence. The United States Government, it is added, wishes that he shall be immediately recalled.

Austria's representations have hitherto been based upon the belief that the United States would be satisfied if Dr. Dumba were recalled on leave of absence.
