Sir John French reports that during the past three days hostile artillery has been continually active on the British front. The British effectively replied to the bombardment- There has been some mining activity, with unimportant results. British aircraft yesterday carried out a successful raid on the German communications at Valenciennes, IS miles north-east of Cambrai, hitting a train and cutting the line at several places.
