ARETA DEFEATS PUKEEOHE.

A few matches were played at the Remuera grounds on t Saturday afternoon before a small attendance of spectators. Light rain fell and made -the grounds , vet and slippery. A team from Pukekohe -was pitted against Areta, bnt the experience of the town players proved too big an obstacle for the country team, which suffered, defeat by 6 goals to 3. . The Auckland Ladies' Association held a tournament to find the challenger for the Bernecker Cup, six second grade teams competing. Technical College defeated Waitemata in the final, and thus won the right to play the challenge round against Om*pere (holder) next Saturday. The senior challenge match for the Belraore Cup. beI tween Training College (holder) and Mount : Eden will also be played next Saturday, I and this will finally close the season.

ARETA V. PUKEKOHE. Areta defeated Pukekohe by 6 goals to 1. The town team secured a big lead in the first spell, as a result of better combined play, and thereafter took matters rather V-sv. The country players showed plenty of aash. but depended on individual rather than combined effort- Mr. R. H. Killip was referee

SCHOOL MATCHES. Primary school represent played » drawn came with Primary School Old Boys, each aide scoring twice. The school team again showed to advantage against its older and more experienced opponents. R. G. Carter scored both goals for the school team. and Guinness and J. Carter coaled for the Old Boys. Mr. L. H. Norton was referee. Technical College defeated Primary School B representatives by 4 goals to 2. Long. ArneU. Hewson. and Williams scored for the winners, and R. G. Carter scored twice for the losers. Mr. Norton was referee.

SCHOOL -TEAM FOR ROTORDA. The. primary school representative team will leave for Rotorua on Wednesday morning, and will play two matches against the school representatives of the hot lakes town on Thursday and Friday, returning to town on Saturday afternoon. Representative jerseys will be provided for the team which will meet at the Auckland" railway station on Wednesday moraine at half-past nine. Boys will brine their lunch as the journey will not be broken at Hamilton as originally intended, the extra day being spent at Rotorua. There 's still an opportunity for a few primary j school pupils to travel with the team at the same rate, namely. 21s. for the whole trip, and those desirous cf going should noniy Mr. L. H. A manager and several masters will travel with the team.

LADIES' MATCHES. The tournament to decide the challenging team for the Bernecker Cup was played en Saturday afternoon and resulted as follows: FIRST ROUND. Henderson defeated Training CoHese by 1 point to 0. Waitemata a bye. Technical College defeated Whakatu by 2 goals to 1 goal. Otahuhu a bye. SEMI-FINAL. Waitemata defeated Henderson by 2 points to 0.
