SULPHURIC ACID.
PURCHASES IN AMERICA.
DEMAND FOR INQUIRY. London, September 23. The Globe urges a Parliamentary inquiry into the purchase of sulphuric acid in America for the Government. It declares that the firm of C. Tennant and Sons were commissioned to purchase acid. No attempt was made to obtain the acid in England, while heavy leakage resulted through the shipment of American acid being made in iron drums instead of earthenware carboys. The acid thus damaged two transporting ships.
