MINING NEWS.
WAITANGI.
The manager of the Waitangi Consolidated mine, Thames, reports that in No. 2 level last week, work consisted in opening out on the reef towards the hangingwall. Stoping in the eastern end between No. 2 and No. 3 crosscuts was in progress. As soon as the drive is timbered up, the full width of the reef will bo taken out to the hangingwall. A further distance of sft was driven in the intermediate drive east, making a total of 30ft. The ore coming from this drive looked well and showed good minerals.
PAPAROA COALMINE. COMPANY TO BE WOUND UP. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Friday. A meeting of shareholders of the Paparoa Coal Mining Company was held to-day, Mr. T. Shailer Weston presiding. The shareholders resolved: That it has been proved to the satisfaction of this meeting that the company cannot, by reason of its liabilities, continue its business, and that it is advisable to wind up the same; and, accordingly, that the company be wound up voluntarily."
