GREAT NUMBERS OF TROOPS FROM POLAND. STATEMENT BY FRENCH DEFENCE DEPARTMENT. By Telegraph Press Association— (Received September 15, 11.30 p.m.) Paris, September 14. The Defence Department announces that it has received information that the Germans are transporting great numbers of troops, heavy howitzers, and large stores of ammunition from Poland towards France. It is believed this presages a great attempt to smash the Franco-British lines.
