VIOLENT BOMBARDMENTS ON WESTERN FRONT.
ALLIES SHELL ENEMY CONCENTRATIONS.
ATTACK ARRESTED BY CURTAIN OF FIRE. London, September 12 An official communique reports incessant bombing, grenade fighting, and cannonading in the Nenville sector. Most violent bombardments are reported from the Roye region, and between Pafssy and Craonelle. The French repulsed a fresh German attempt to advance at Sapioneul. The allied artillery southward of Leintrey was effective against the German concentration positions, a German attack being immediately stopped." A message from the High Commissioner amplifies the latter portion of this v. cable in the following terms: "South of Leintrey there has been efficacious French artillery action on enemy works and concentrations. «% An attempted ; German attack wis arrested by a curtain of artillery and infantry fire." i
