GERMANS IN THE EAST.
ADVANCE TOWARDS PINSK.
Amsterdam, September 10.
A German communique states: " General von Hindenburg in the fighting near Wilkomierz captured some hundreds of Russians. Otherwise the position is unchanged between the Baltic and the Niemen. The battle continues at Skidel, south-east of Grodno. The Germans stormed the Preski heights upon the Zelvianka, capturing 1400 prisoners.
" Prince Leopold of Bavaria is attacking the Upper Zelvianka, also East Rozanka, and has captured Olszanka. General von Mackensen's pursuing columns have reached Kosow, and are advancing on both sides of- the railway towards Pinsk. The Germans repulsed the Russians to Bucniow, eastward of Tarnopol. All the Russian attacks hereabouts were crushed."
TURKISH COMMUNIQUE.
ARTILLERY AND BOMBS.
Amsterdam, September 10.
A Turkish official communique states that the artillery at Anafarta on "Wednesday caused explosions in the allied positions southward of Azmak Dere. The allies unsuccessfully dropped bombs on the Turkish left wing at Ari Burnu. A feeble artillery duel occurred at Sedd-cl-Bahr.
RUSSIANS REINFORCED.
BATTLE OF TARNOPOL. Amsterdam, September 10. A Vienna communique reports violent fighting westward of the middle Sereth, where the Russians were reinforced. The Austrians repulsed the Italians at the Tolmino bridgehead with heavy losses.
