Da. G. Casement Aickc>, -who has been visiting Dunedin, will return to Auckland by this morning's express train.

Mr. N. M. Duncan, of Christchurch, who has spent a few days in Auckland, returned South by the Riverira last evening.

Mr. Gladstone Ward, sun of Sir Joseph Ward, who is m England. has received a commission in the Mechanical Transport Department, Army Service Corps.

Dr. Bennett, of Devon port, was vesterday appointed by the Hospital Board as honorary medical officer to the Devonport home for convalescent soldiers.

_ Mr. C. Ran son, manager for th« Northern Steamship Company, left by the Ngatiawa yesterday morning on a "business visit to Tauranga and other Bay of Plenty ports.

Mr. Gresley Lnkii., editor of the Wellington Evening Post, has received nen-s that three of his cousins were killed in the recent fighting at Gallipoli. Including two grandsons, 13 of Mr. Lukin's kinsmen aP3 either at the front or on their wav thither.

Dr. E. D. Aubin will leave for Egypt shortly to act as a surgeon at the New Zealand Hospital. He is now in Wellington, and will return to Auckland tomorrow. It is probable that he will leave for Sydney by the Maknra on September 20 and proceed to Egypt by the Osterley.

_ Mr. W. J. Organ, late flavor of Eastbourne, a Wellington suburb, has enlisted, and -will go into camp on the 7th inst. as a probationary non-commissioned officer for the ninth reinforcements. Mr. Organ, who was Mayor of Eastbourne for three years, has had a long connection with the civic affairs of the borough.

Mr. F. L. Armitage, of Auckland, has recerved_ an appointment as bacteriologist to the New Zealand Forces in Egypt, and he leaves for Wellington, en route to Egypt, almost immediately. The Devonport Borough Council, of' which he iras a member, has accepted his resignation with_ regret. He will also resign his position as chairman of the Auckland and Suburban Local Bodies' Association. While he is absent, Mr. Arraitage's work will be performed by Mr. H. Symons, of tb© Public Health Department.
