WAISTCOATS FOR SOLDIERS.
GOOD RESPONSE TO APPEAL.
The appeal of the Countess of Liverpool for leather waistcoats for the NewZealand soldiers at the front, is meeting with a satisfactory response. A generous offer lias been made by the employees ot Messrs.. Marks and Company, of Chancery Street, who have asked that they be allowed to work overtime on a certain number of the vests without charging for their services. The Mayoress, Mrs. J. H. Gunson, has accepted the offer, and 500 waistcoats are to be commenced immediately.
Contributions towards the cost of the waistcoats are to be commenced immeare as follows:Waiuku Patriotic League, Pukekohe Committee of the Lady Liverpool League, Cambridge Women's Patriotic League, each 100 waistcoats; Buckland branch aof Lady Liverpool League, Ttirua Girls Club, Otahuhu Women's Patriotic League, and Panmure Patriotic Committee, oach 50 waistcoats; St. Aidan's, Remuera, 25 waistcoats ; Ponsonby Women, per Mrs. Dufaur, 20 waistcoats; Southern Cross, 15 waistcoats; St. Andrew's School, Epsom, 10 waistcoats ; Miss Ruth Jackson', nine waistcoats ; G. F. Henry, Miss Mary Picken, Miss Peacock, Mr. H. Chamberlain, Mr. H. Clarke, Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Ambury, and Mr. F. W. Gaze, each six waistcoats; All Saints' Mothers' Union, per Rev. Calder, five waistcoats; New Zealander, four waistcoats; Mr. J. Fleming, Miss Fleming, Mr. K. P. Wainwright, Mrs. Slatter, Mr. J. Edson, Mrs. Haines, Mrs. H. Stansfiela, Mrs. Madill. Mrs. T. J. McCaul, Mrs. John French, Snnnyside, Mrs. Isabel Close, Mr, and Mrs. j. B. Oilmour,' Mrs. M. Matheson, Mrs. J. Hansant, Mrs. Walter Frater, Miss Frater, Mrs. G. S. Kent, and Mr. Walter Frater, each three waistcoats Anonymous and Kia Ora, each one waistcoat.
