SALE OF WHEY BUTTER.
SUGGESTED NEW BRAND. \ [BT TELEGRAPH. —SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT.3 Wellington". Tuesday. A Qt-ESTTOX regarding the branding of whey butter was asked in the House of Representatives to-day by Mr. J. T. M. Hornsby (Wairarapa). He said that it had been stated that a new brand would be insisted on for such butter, proclaiming that it was whey butter. A large number of factories were manufacturing such butter and were turning out an excellent article. They would be greatlv prejudiced if a brand was to go upon it that it was whey Flatter.
The Minister for Agriculture, the Hot. W. D. S. Mac Donald, said that there '-ad been some negotiations in connection with the matter. There was no question 'that whey batter had been exported from New Zealand to the London market, and it had not been satisfactory" to the other factory butter in this country. It had prejudiced the sale of New Zealand butter to a certain extent. The matter was under consideration, but nothing definite had been done. They had under consideration the advisability of patting a definite brand upon whey butter. Mr. Horns by: Would you hear representatives of the factories before von reply definitely . Mr. Mac Donald: We are verv pleased to get any information at- all ? *
