FIRE AT BIRKENHEAD.

Early on Sunday morning a fiie broke out in tha building in Hauraki Street, Birkenhead, used as a billiard saloon by Mr. S. K. Alexander. The fire resulted in its total destruction. The contents were insured in the Government Office for £145, where the building, which wa s owned by Mr. B. Deeley, was also insured for £150. The neighbours in the locality prevented the tire from spreading \ to the adjoining buildings by means of * bucket brigade and hose. j
