PENSIONS REGULATIONS.
METHOD OF APPLICATION. POWERS OF XEW BOARD. [Br TELEGRAPH.PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington", Saturday. Tnr. method of obtaining military pensions under the War Pensions Act of this session, has been set out in regulations. Officers of the Public Service must assist applicants as far as possible in the preparation of their claims. These will go before a pensions board, with a sworn declaration, by the applicant as to the truth of th© statements in the claim. The board has power to inquire of any bank or other investment institution as to th© funds standing to a claimant's credit, and it has power of access to the registers of any State Department and to all real and personal property of the applicant, together with any books or vouchers relating thereto. Pensions will be paid through. the nearest post office in equal instalments on the first of every month.
The Commissioner of Pensions has the right to review the position of the pensioner at the close of any pension year fox the purpose of varying the payment if the pensioner's circumstances have changed. This regulation has an important proviso to the effect that nothing in this regulation shall authorise the board to take into consideration the income and property of a pensioner who has been a. member of the forces except to the extent authorised by sections 6 and 15 o c the, jaid Act. These sections provide that the claims of a wife and children have precedence over those of other dependents, i and that the pension is absolutely inalienI able by sale, assignment, etc.
