IT is expected that the tramway for bringing the coal from the mine to Die water's edge at Whangarei, wffl bo completed in about three months, and that coal will there he shipped for Auckland and other places. Mr. Walton intends making Limestone Island a depot, in order to supply therefrom steamers and largo sea-going vessels. These can all go to the island easily—the water being deep enough «> float the largest vessels. . The wpect of Whangarei has changed considerably of late. Entirely now houses are being built, and old ones are being replaced by new ones of an enlarged size. The actual commencement of the coat traffic will doubtless give a further great stimulus to the district, and add greatly to the number of settlers in the neighbourhood, who will find a market at their doors for their surplus produce.
