The men demanded certain alterations in the 3.;w----nienr.. and an increase in wares, represent p.j Is p,-r day per man. The (itv Corporation offered to renew all the present terms of the agreement, but to -ire wages as provided in the recent Christchurch award. The assessors for the men reduced their demand, offering to accept a rise of 6d all round. This was refused, and a deadlock was reached, the case, in consequence, being referred to the Arbitration Court.
