APOLOGETIC PIRATES.
COMPENSATION FOR OUTRAGE. SWEDEN MAKES PROTEST. London. August 25. Germany has apologised to Denmark for the torpedoing of the steamer Betty in the North Sea on May -26. and offers compensation tor the damage and loss. Sweden hasprotested to Germany against the shelling of the steamer 'Goethland and her detention at Cuxhaven. It is pointed out that the vessel c|id not carry contraband.
