J The proposal to establish an old colonists' I museum was discussed, a series of recomi mendations being made by the chief I librarian. He "suggested that a coli lection of memorials of the early | colonisation of the Auckland provincial j district should be undertaken. He ' j asked that he be authorised to engape a temporary assistant, "whose duty it would be to communicate with old colonists and other persons and to promote in such I manner as the council mieht direct the collection of suitable pictures, photographs. Upon open council being re- ; snmed. it was renorted that the Public : Services Committee had been authorised . to ca4l for tenders when it considered the time opportune.
