COLLEGE COUNCIL MEETING

CHAIR OF HISTORY.

The Auckland University College Council met yesterday afternoon. Those present were: Sir G. M. O'Rorke, chairman, Messrs, J. : 11. D. Malion, J. H. Gunson, J. F. Hosking, T. U. Wells, T. W. Leys, 0. L. Peacocke, Dr. H. D. Bamford. Dr. W. C. W. McDowell, - the- Rev. J. H. Simmorids, and; Professors H. W. Segar and C. W. Egerton. . A letter was received from Mr. J. P. Grossmann, the newly-appointed .professor of, history, accepting the appointment a3 from January, 1916, and offering to assist the committee appointed to confer with him in .regard to the definition of his duties. . ■ ' "' . ■ Mr. Peacockc explained that the committee had been unable, to meet, but he understood , that there would bo no difficulty in making : arrangements satisfactory to the college. ' - The question of the insurance of the contents of the university buildings was referred to the- Property, Committee with power to act. _. ■ A recommendation from the Finance Committee, that the registrar be instructed to inform students whose fees . were overdue that, if the amounts were not paid promptly, they would bo refused attendance, was adopted. .....
