FRENCH WIN GROUND AT SEVERAL POINTS.
IMPORTANT PROGRESS MADE IN THE VOSGES. THREE HUNDRED PRISONERS TAKEN IN "THEIABYRINTH;" (Received June 17, .9.10 p m) • Pabis, June 16. An official communique states: "We gained ground at various points, notably east of Lorette and south-west and south of Souchez. We captured in ' the labyrinth' 300 prisoners, and machine-guns. " At Quennevieres, between the Aisne and the Oise, after repulsing several counter-attacks, we extended our gains to the northand took 100 prisoners. The enemy threw 300 shells • into Rheiras, some of which were of the incendiary type. A dozen projectiles hit the Cathedral. ."We made important progress in the Vosges. We- carried Brannkopf, on the northern bank of the Hautejech, taking 300 prisoners, including four officers, many rifles, and half a million cartridges. On Tuesday some bombs were dropped on St. Die, Belfort, and Nancy. Some civilians were wounded at the latter place."
