SHORT-WEIGHT BREAD.

BAKER FINED £20. [by telegraph.—own correspondent.] Tatjmartjnui, Thursday. At the Magistrate's Court to-day W. E. Stevenson was charged with selling two loaves of bread under 41b in weight. Defendant pleaded guilty. There were two previous convictions. Stevenson said he -■ himself was not. in the bakehouse, and . '. supposed his men weighed loaves too iquickly. Also, new flour was being used, >i which would require longer baking, and so make the loaf lighter. A fine of £20 was imposed.
