MOANATAIARI.

WINDING-UP RESOLUTION.

An extraordinary general meeting of the Moanataiari Gold Mining Company was held yesterday morning at the office of the secretary, Mr. J. W. Nichol, to consider a proposal to voluntarily wind up the company. The Hon. E. jMitchclson, chairman of directors, presided, and a formal resolution was carried approving of the proposal. It was decided to hold the requisite confirmatory meeting on Monday, July 5, next.

At a subsequent meeting of the board the draft half-yearly report to shareholders was adopted. This stated that the term of six months' protection obtained for the mine expired last month. It had been ascertained that before tho work of driving tho crosscut with tho object of picking up the Cambria and other reefs could bo resumed, considerable expense would have to be incurred in providing for ventilation and repairs to the shaft. Even then operations might have to cease owing to water and gas, due to the stoppage of the Thames Hauraki pump. Under these circumstances, added to which tho majority of tho issued shares had become forfeited to tflie company, there appeared to be no alternative but to call shareholders together, as had been done, to consider the winding-up of the company. Pending confirmation of the resolution carried a further term of six months' protection had been applied for. WAIOTAHI. The cleaning up of the old Waiotahi battery, Thames, is being continued. In the mine tributers are putting in a surface drive, but so far nothing of value has been met with. ° DREDGING RETURNS. [BY telegraph.—press ASSOCIATION.] Dunedin, Monday.
