GENEROUS RESPONSE.

MORE MATERIALS WANTED. The meetings of the various cuuiiitteea set up to further the appeal for money and materia! for the equipment of the New Zealand hospital ship and the future cave of sul- and wounded soldiers were held yestttray in the Town Hall. 11l tie'morning the Ladies' Supply Committee met. the Mayoress, Mrs. J. H. Gunson, presiding. It was reported thai, offers largely i" excess of the articles required were received. The following figures show the materials called for and tho quantities promised:—Pillows, required 500, promised 314 : sheets. 600, 700 : pillow-cases, 600. 1167; pyjamas, 300 pairs. 386: nightingales, 300, 335; bed jackets. 300. 350; nightshirts. ZOO. 262; bed socks, 500 pairs, 657; white handkerchiefs. 1260, 2493: flannel waistcoats, 250, 300; cushions. 250, i! 50; mufflers, 250. 309; Balaclava caps, 260, 262: day socks, 400 pairs, 595; face washcloths, 500, 1180. The St. John Ambulance undertook t.> supply the bandages required The following goods, not on the Governor's original list, hive also been promised .— Drawsheets, 503; mill; jug covers, 200; iitehen towels, 800; bothbriishes, 35b; dusters, 156. For rubber-sheeting the sum of £4 12s 'Id was forwarded in addition to 20y<fs of material. Operating gowns and jackets, hot-water bigs, and 2-1 rubber aprons were donated, in addition to £36 Is sent for the purchase of pillows or other necessary materials. Men'; Supply CoininUtso. At a Liter hour the Men's Supply Committee met, the Mayor, Mr. J. H." Gunson, presiding. A report for submission to the executive was prepared, showing that while somo of tho materials for which the wen's committee was reipon&ible had been offered in sufficient quantities, there was stih' a shortage in other directions. The committee, however, had no doubt that in the course of the next few days the entiro equipment would be in hand. In several cases it, had been found necessary to have articles made and there may be further necessity to puichrse a few items to complete the list. The following is a list of the materials required :—Men's woollen day shirts, SCO required, none promised; bath towels, 950 required, 847 promisee!; felt slippers, 200 requited, none promised; worsted wool, 501b required, none promised; travelling rags, 250 •eqr.-red, 102 promised; flannel undershirts, 600 required, 120 promised; Marcella quilts, single bed site, 300 required, 72 promised - blankets, single bed size. 400 required, 53 promised; dressing gowns, 250 required, 310 promised hair <»mbs, 500 required, 600 promised; shoe brushes, 12 sets required, 50 sets promised ; deck chairs, 300 required, 314 promised. . Meeting of Executive. The meeting of the Executive Uom-. mitteo was held yesterday afternoon, the Mayor presiding. ( The ' report* of the Ladies' and Mens Supply Committee were received. The hope was expressed that the offers to make good the shortages in the various lines for which the Men's Committee was responsible would be quickly forthcoming. ~ It was resolved to accept the. offer of the officers' of the Auckland Garrison to jold ft service in the Town flail on Sunday, June 13. A collection is to be ken up" in aid of the Mayor's Fund. O.fers •were received from the Rugby' Football Union and the Rugoy League respectively to hold football matches in lid of the fund. * The offers were accepted. An offer by Mr. Harold Gregsc-rt to give a co»cert in the Town Hall, the proceeds to be devoted to the fund, was also accepted. .The Men's - Supply Committee reported that, the services of Mr. Chapman, an expert, had been placed at the disposal of the committee by Messrs. -Sargood, Son and Kwen, and this gentleman was now in charge -'of the receipt and despatch ot goods. It was resolved to. recommend the General Committee to adopt the title of the Auckland . Provincial Hospital Ship Fi.nd and Killed and Wounded Relief Association. This will he submitted to tiie meeting of the general committee to-day at 2 p.m., when rules drafted by a sub-committee, consUting of Messrs. R. Burns, A. S. s Bankart, E. A. Craig, and H. Horten, will be msidcred.

PILLOWS AND PILLOW - OASES.

NEARLY SUFFICIENT PROMISED.

His Extylency the Governor Ims been promised 1250 pillows for the hospital ship. As this is the requisite number, no more of these will be needed. Six hundred ,and fifty pillow-cases have also been promised. 'This leaves only 600 more of these to be furnished.
