HILL WRESTED FROM GERMANS ON THE YSER,
GERMANS YIELD MORE GROUND IN ALSACE.

An official communique states On Saturday night, on the right bank of the Yscr, we carried the whole of the German trenches on Hill 1", in the Pilikcn region, capturing 50 Germans and three quickfirers. A violent, artillery duel continues. " In the sector north of Arras we attacked a great German defensive work,. known as "The Labyrinth,'' south-east of Neuville St. Vaast. 'A hot action resulted. We progressed 400 metres, and made many prisoners, including several officers. "We carried more trenches in the Bois le Pretre, beyond the Meuse, taking 50 prisoners. We repulsed an attack on the Schnopfoureith range, in Alsace, and captured an enemy trench." SIR JOHN FRENCH REPORTS FURTHER GAINS. GERMAN TAUBE BROUGHT DOWN BY BRITISH AIRMAN, London, May 30. • Sir John French reports further small gains at Festubert since Wednesday. Otherwise matters have been quiet on the British front. A British aeroplane brought down a German aviator in the neigh- ' bourhood of Moorslede.
