HEAVY GERMAN LOSSES.
DETERMINED FIGHTING, (Received May 29, 1 a.m.) -
Petboqbad, .May 28. It is officially stated that a very stubborn battle is in progress along both banks of the San, - between Przemysl and the river Lubasz. It has developed great intensity. The enemy on the 25th opened a determined offensive along the whole front, from the Dniester Marshes to Dolina. The Germans in three days suffered enormous 'losses, but were nowhere , successful. ,«, The ■■ hostile elements which penetrated, between the Point d'Appui/near Stry, were destroyed by the Russian fire. During counter-attacks the Russians took many prisoners. -
DEFENCE" OF PRZEMYSL.
RUSSIAN RESISTANCE.
(Received: May 39. 1.35 a.m.) r/ London, May 28. ; Military critics point out that the Russian trenches south-east of Przemysl are fortified with : reinforced concrete, hence the/determined resistance. The Archduke Joseph Ferdinand'has concentrated large reinforcements on an eight mile line from Hussakow. Six miles behind is the Lemberg railway, which is supplying all the Russians in tije region. -
It is estimated that the German jasualties in the West Galician drive lie already 106,000; '"
