COOK AND REVOLVER.
4» ALLEGATIONS OF A WIFE. "The revolver has been taken from him by tho sergeant of police and five constables," was the melodramatic statement of Mary Adelaido Douglas, who asked Mr, C. v O. Kettle, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court yesterday for a separation order from her husband, Charles Lewis Douglas, cook on a coastal steamer, on tho ground of his failure to maintain her and persistent cruelty. " Can I plead my own case?" asked complainant, remarking that her solicitor was engaged in the Supreme Court, and desired an adjournment. Mr. Kettle: Very well! Complainant said she was married 15 years ago, and for five years of that period had lived in Auckland. Six weeks ago her husband had left he» and her boy. His jealous disposition had led to domestic unhappiness, and on one occasion he had threatened to shoot both her ard tho boy. In six months he had given her only £3 3s Bd. Commenting on the defendant's absence from Court, the magistrate said he must accept the statements of complainant as being nubstantiallv accurate. An order for payment of 25s a week maintenance was made.
