THE RUGBY GAME.

MEETING OF AUCKLAND UNION.

A MBETISO of the management committee of the Auckland Rugby Union was held in (ho Amateur Sports Clubroom last evening. Mr. M. ,T. Sheahan, chairman, presiding There were also present Messrs. T, Aitken,, T. Buxton, A. 3. Twiname, H. Clay, F. JOlibon, and C. V. Lanßaford Secretary). An application from a senior player ■ that the term of disqualification ontered against him be lifted was received. It wis decided to take no action in the matter. An application made by a fourth grade flayer for the removal of a term ol disqualification was not entertained. The Northern Wairoa Union wrote stating that 35 players from the district, including six of last year's representatives, had already joined tho expeditionary force. Players continued to leave with every batch going forward. An application was received from tho ■tairJo union for ft grant of £6 to be devoted towards the encouragement of * school football in the district. It was decided to reply stating that the application would be forwarded, with a favourable recommendation, to the New Zesland Rugby UnionTho City Club asked that Barley, a second grade player, and Martin, a third grade player, be permitted to play in the fourth grade. It was pointed out that the club had lost so many players thai, it had no second grade team, and would probably not have a third grade team. It was decided to grant the application in regard to Martin, and to reerado Harlcy to the third gradeParnell Club asked that Warden, second grade player, be rogrnded to the third grade The application km granted. It was decided to ask club officials to insist on player* wearing correct club uniform in future matches.

At the meeting of the Paevoa Rugby Union held last night it was decided that the return match between Paeroa and Kaiangahako be played at Mackaytown on Saturday. May 22.

THE LEAGUE GAME.

MEETING OF LOCAL EXECUTIVE.

The management committeo of the Auckland Rugby League met last evening. Present: Messrs. E. Benson (chairman), A. B. Cummins, A. W. Tatton, R. McDonald, R. Pollock, 11. Fellowes. C. Baker, J. Eiulcan, A. Powell, and R. Spinlcy (secretary). Tho Otahuhu Club wroto stating that, in couaoquenco of the request of the committee, they had obtained jerseys with wide bands at considerable expense. However, other clubs that visited Otahuhu this season had jerseys with narrow bauds. This, they considered, was unfair. The club was o( opinion the resolution concerning jerseys passed by tho committeo should bo strictly enforced. It was decided to reply that, while appreciating the efforts of the Otahuhu Club to comply with the committco's request, they were sorry the club had been put to such expense. They hopod that other clubs would follow the example of Otahuhu. The council of the Now Zealand League notified the committee that, in consequence of tho request made by them, it had been unanimously decided to removo suspensions off disqualified members who were serving at the front. Mr. A. Seccombo was nominated an a vicepresident of the Now Zealand League. The City Council wrote stating that the committee's application for the erection of a lence in front of tho stand at Victoria Park had to bo _ declined, as '.he council had no funds available for the work. Members of the committee were of opinion that something should bo done to keep the public oft' the touch-lines. It was eventually decided that (ho committee completely fence the ground for future matches. The committee intended to play two matches on Victoria Park on Saturday, May 29, and charge for admission. Their application to the City Council, however, did not reach the oouucil 14 days befnvo the day on which it was oroposcd to make (ho charge, and therefore had to bo declined. It was agreed that the fourth grade match, Newton v. City, should bo renlaved. Owing to sorao misunderstanding half the City players went to Otahuhu on Saturday instead of Richmond, and the match wns claimed by Newton by default. The committee decided to defray the expenses of members of St. John Ambulance Association officially attending Leaguo matches-
