SEQUEL TO ACCIDENT.
CLAIM FOR DAMAGES.
VALUE OF BROKEN ' THIGH.
AiiGUJiES-T was continued in the Magistrate's Court yesterday before Mr. 0. C. Kettle, S.M.. in a case in which Arthur
Bestic (Mr. W. Hackett), a telegraph messenger, claimed damages from Arawa Boßcawen (Mr. Cracroft Wilson), a chirk, for injuries received in a collision which occurred on July 11, 1914. It was alleged that the defendant negligently and unskilfully drove a horse, whereby plaintiff, who was riding a bicycle, was thrown from the machine, and received a broken thigh. Mr. Hackett stated that tho magistrate had already signified his intention of giving judgment for an amount of £17 vlsn, claimed as special damages. It remained for the Court to assess " tho value of a broken thigh." The magistrate said he could not see his way to give judgment for the whole of tho £25 claimed as general damages, although he would allow the special damages claimed. " I shall give judgment for £15 general damages," he added, " but I do not say that this is an adequate recompense for the injury received." Judgment was entered for £32 15s.
