HOT YEARS 'AGO.
STATE OF HOBSON STREETS
(From-the HBBAIT> of May IS, 1865.) Since the upper portion of Hobaon Street has been metalled it has been customary for some of the carters to adopt the very questionable practice of travelling over the aide pavement, saving their horses' feet at the expense of those of the biped taxpayers. During the recent rainy weather the western side of Hobson Street, from Wellesley Street to Cook Street, was ploughed up to such tin extent by cart ruts as to be quite impassable by female pedestrians. The sooner such practices are put a stop to the better, or the City Board may discover tho truth—one, by the way, not confined to the City Boardthat "mending their ways" is a somewhat difficult and expensive matter.
