NEW DRINK BILL.

LIQUOR FOR WORKERS.

STATE TO CONTROL SUPPLY.

LABOUR CO-OPERATION.

London, May 10.

i Mr. Lloyd George to-day explained the Bill to be introduced dealing with drink. He said the Government proposed that the Act should be administered by a central board, which would advise the Government on the question of areas. In the latter efficient local committees of employers and workmen already existed. '

. The supply of liquor would be in the hands of the Government, and would only be obtained through local committees. The Government was prepared to appoint a committee to inquire into the statements in a White Paper relative to the drinking habits of the working classes.

Mr. Arthur Henderson said the Labour Party would do everything possible to make the Act effective.
