BRITISH LINE RESISTS GERMAN PRESSURE.
FIVE ATTACKS BY ENEMY HURLED BACK.
ARTILLERY ENGAGED NORTH OF LA BASSEE.
London, May 10.
Sir John French reports that despite the enemy's repeated attacks last week, the British lino oast of Ypres is practically unchanged. The enemy made five unsuccessful attacks on Sunday, sustaining very heavy losses.
Fighting on the first army's front, operating north of La Bassee, to-day is confined to the artillery.
