Is' to-day's edition of the Aicrland Weekly News appear two full-pages of portraits of gallant New Zealanders killed and wonr.ded in action in the Dardanelles. One page gives an almost complete list >'■{ the officers whose names have appeared in" the casualty lists to date, while the other is mainly composed of non-commissioned officers and men, killed and wounded. Numerous snapshots from Egypt depict the arrival of the Maori contingent ad Zeitoiui, a party uf 150 officers and men, returning to camp from a tour to some of Egypt's ancient temples. Members (if il .-e* force, some of whose names appear) amongst the casualties, photographed before their departure to the Dardanelles, and engineers preparing to leave camp for the front. A striking illustration .- ; the great Cunard liner. Ltisitaiiin. covers a considerable portion of the centra! pages. Portraits of s">me of the passengers also appear, including Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Maeky. of Auckland. Other pictures in connection with the outrage show a German submarine at sea. and the sight signs which betray their presence in cairn water. The many interesting war photographs include views of a great German naval gun leaving the Krupp work', tin Japanese hospital in Paris, Herman officers learning the Russian language, and scenes in the Dardanelles. Amongst the miscellaneous pictures appear views of & patriotic demonstration in Wellington, the, prize-winning car in the Belgian festival held at Whakatane. the Queen of the May carnival at Hokitika. and 5000 troops marching through Sydney. Many other; illustrations, and a cartoon on His Imperial Highness, the arch-murderer, help in forming an issue of exceptional interest.
