EDEN TERRACE PETITION.

SIGNED BY 230 RATEPAYERS.

The petition proposing that the Eden Terrace Road District be amalgamated with the City of Auckland will be forwarded to the .Minister for Internal Affairs by the first mail today, it carries the signatures of 230 ratepayers.

In order to obtain consideration by the a ithorities of such a pinpnsal, the signatuies ot only 25 per cent, of the ratepayers are rujuired. In a letter which will accompany the petition, the c'.erk of the Road Hoard explains that there are 447 ratepayers, of whom a considerable number are absentees, represented by agents, who have im voting powers, but are merely collector of rentals. Since 250 ratepayers have Mgncii the petition, it is clear that an abso'.uU' maj. illy of the total number is in favour of amalgamation, and the letter also states that the petition is unanimously supported by the members of the hoard.
