The auxiliary schooner To T«ko is unable to leave Opotiki owing to the shallow water on the bar. The Northern Company's small coastal steamer Orewa, which has just had a new boiler installed, and undergone an extensive overhaul, has been missioned for the Haiiruki Gulf trade. • The Northern Company's new schooner V.roto. which has been built for lightering p.iruo'es at Bay of Plenty ports, is at preKnt having her engines installed. The Tasman has been delayed in her discharging off Whakatane Heads by bad weather, and was sheltering at Whale Island v, sterday. She will probably return to Auckland to-morrow.
Owing to the heavy rain yesterday, cargo wuld not lie discharged from the- steamer Ir.vertay. The vessel is expected to complete h.r discharge this morning, and will probably sail this afternoon for Wellington and Australian ports. The Atua. en route from Auckland to Fiji. Tonga, and Samoan ports, arrived at Suva at 7 n m on Friday last. The Union Company's steamer Waihemo, laic Canada Cape, is to leave San Francisco about the middle of June for Wellington, Sydney, and Melbourne. 'J be Zealandic, which is loading Homeward cargo at Wellington, is to leave that i>ort on Thursday for Gisborne and Auckland, omitting the previously-arranged call at Wbangarei. The vessel will be despatched from Auckland about May 20 for London, '
The Kitlawa has been delayed on the passage from Westport to Onehunga by bad weather. She is expected to arrive at the Mimukau port this morning. The R.M.3. Niagara is timed to leave Syd--5? at * »-»• on Thursday for Auckland direct. She is duo hero on Monday morn"iff, May 17, and sails at 10 am. on the following day for Suva. Honolulu, t.nd Vancouver.
. The chartered steamer La Blanca, which is due at Auckland about Juno 30 from wvcrpool, will load general cargo in Now Zealand about tho middlo of July for Avonmouth and Liverpool only. The allocation of the refrigerating space is in the hands of the (jovernment.
The Government steamer Hinomoa is at present overhauling buoys and boaeons at Kaipara. Stores were landed at the lighthouse on Friday last. The Whakatono arrived at St. John, Now Brunswick, on May 1 from England. Sho w loading for Australian and New Zealand ports, and is expected to sail this week. The old barque Antiopo has been purchased by the Paparoa Coal Company for use as a hulk' at Wellington. The vessel is to take a cargo of redwood from Eureka to Sydney. After dischargo the Antiope will p f°ffS? 1° Wellington. She is an iron vessel of i486 tons gross, and was built in 1866 by J. Koid and Company, at Port Glasgow. The following signals are now being shown at night for vessels entering the TA'airau Harbour:-A white light is shown 6ft below the wnite masthead light when vessels are able to cross the bar. and a red light Gfl below the masthead light when the bar is unworkable.
The Omana Steamship Proprietary Company, Ltd.. has been registered with a capital of £50,000 in £1 shares. The objects * r6 j : ° purchase the steamship Omana. and to carry on as shipbrokers. freight contractors, etc. Messrs. J. J. Craig, D. V. Stewart (managing), and C. C. H. Gibbons are the first directors. The Omana is now on her maiden voyage from London to West Australia, •
RIVERINA FROM SYDNEY. At an early hour this morning the Hnddart--1 arker lmor Rivenna arrived in the stream at Auckland from Sydney direct, after a protracted passage of about four days 14 hours. The vessel, which was delayed in the lasman Sea by thick, foggy weather, will berth at the Queen's Wharf at 6 a.m. to discharge 1100 tons of cargo. The departure of the Rivenna for Sydney has been postponed until 10 o'clock to-night.
