SEVERAL FUNDS RAISED.

Gisbobne, Monday. A fund which was opened in Gisborne last week to provide socks for soldiers produced 4577 pairs within a week, and at the same time £110 was subscribed for garments for the men. A few days ago ci sum of £1200 was cabled to England to procure two motor - ambulances iron; thi* district, for service at the front. A queen carnival is in progress, by which it is ex- . pected to raiso several thousand pounds for : patriotic purposes.
