Tin. naval correspondent of the 'limes says :—The British Admiralty sprung . surprise on the enemy by producing at the critical moment the Queen Elizabeth, the* great oil-driven 15in-gunned battleship, most formidable weapon afloat. The Queen Elizabeth is the type-ship of ,i new which marks a departure upon pieviou.battleships of the Dreadought era in many lcspects, but notably in regard to gunjiower, speed, and fuel. She is the first vessel of the regular battle line to be armed with 15in guns las compared wit.b 13.5 iii), to have a nominal speed of 2b l knots (as compared with 21 knots;, and touse oil fuel only, instead of oil arid ooal or coal alone. Whereas the 13.5 in gun hurls „ projectile of 14001b the 15in guns Hie a projectile of nearly a ton in weight, between ten and 12 miles. 'J lie yncen Elizabeth is one of five ships, tlio others being the Warspite. Valiant. Barliam, and Malaya, all of similar type, and all of which* are to be completed for sea within the flest few v weeks..
