OBITUARY.

DR. N. McKAY GRANT. The death of Dr. Norman McKay Grant occurred at bis residence yesterday. Dr. Grant, who was about 50 years of age, was the second son of Mr. Alexander Grant, of Stellartou, Novia Scotia, Canada, and was trained at the Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario. He arrived in New Zealand about 1892, and commenced practice in Auckland in 1897. Dr. Grant was very popular,, but during the last two years be had retired somewhat from public life owing to heart trouble. Until a few months ago he was a member of the Auckland Club, but ill-health caused him to resign.

MRS. VINCENT MARSHALL.

The death occurred at Ohaupo on Wednesday of Mrs. Vincent Marshall, only daughter of the late Primate of New Zealand, Bishop Cowie. Mrs. Marshall had been suffering from an attack of influenza. The deceased leaves a husband and four young children-. Her eldest brother is the archdeacon of the Waikato, her second brother the vicar of Paeroa, and her youngest brother missioner at Auckland of the Church of England Mission to Seamen. The funeral takes ylace at Tamahere, in the Waikato, to-day at 11 a.m.

AN EARLY SETTLER.

The death occurred on Tuesday of Mr. J H, Cornish, one of the oldest shipwrights in Auckland. He had suffered a long and painful illness and died in tha Auckland Hosnital. Mr. Cornish arrived in Auckland in the ship Ida Zciglcr 47 years ago, and was 73 years old. The interment was made yesterday afternoon in tho Symonds Street Cemetery. llib Auckland Shipwrights' Union, o7 winch Mr. Cornish had been a member for many years, and of which he was formerly chairman, was represented by Mr. John White.
