ATHLETICS.
PAPAKURA SPORTS. A most successful sports meeting was held ] at Papakura on Monday, when almost double the number of last year's attendants were present. The dancing events attracted much attention, and the club intends to cater largely for dancers next year. The running and cycling events attracted good fields and there wore ninny close finishes. A competitor was disqualified for the day for misbehaviour, and his case has been reported to the Northern Athletic Union. The results were as follows: — Maiden Handicap, 120yds.-Final heat: A. The second annual sports meeting of the Putaruru Athletic Club was' held at the Recreation Grounds on Easter Monday. Tho gathering, which was held under Northern Athletic Union rules, was largely attended, the gate takings being much larger than last year's.
