London*, March 2. The promotion of the late Lord Northland, of tin- Coldstream Guards, to 1)-.' captain hits boon gazetted. Mr. Sinclair Thomson (Geraldine), a recent arrival in Kngland, has a commission in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. Mr. A. ('. Clayton and Mr. W. J. Hainan arrived from New Zealand not long ayn. The former hits a commission in the Ist Battalion, Royal Sussex fiegiment, the hitler a commission in the Ist Battalion. .Middlesex Regiment. Mr. Roofer B. Johnson (Mount Torlesse) is at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst, with tlic prospect of a commission in the army at an early date. Before war started Mr. Johnson had desired to go through the course of British military training at Sandhurst, preparatory to entering the Dominion Defence Force. Ho came home on one of the transports. Gunner W. J. Russell (Wellington), of the N.Z.F.A., who came Home with tho transports from Egypt, is now a member of the 21st Reserve'Battery,R.F.A. .Woolwich. Mr. J. T. St. Clan* Tisdall is gazetted to the 3rd, Liverpool, Regiment (infantry). Lieutenant I'utlvbert T. Maclean, 4th I Battalion Royal Fusiliers, who was mentioned in Sir John French's recent despatch, and who has been awarded the military cross, has been at Falmouth for the past month recuperating. He was rather severely wounded, and was at Osborne military hospital for some time. i During his stay at Falmouth, Lieutenant Maclean has been training recruits, delivering courses of lectures, etc. He is duo now to appear before the Medical Board, and if he passes -as he expects to do—he will probably return to the front at an early date. Lieutenant H. A. Da vies, who has been at the front with the 31th Brigade. R.F.A.. is now proceeding to Egypt to join the I New Zealand expeditionary force. I Mr. 0. F. R. I Nurse B. S. Greig. of Auckland, left for France this week. _ Mr Alexander McNab has joined as a private' the 24th Battalion City of London Royal Fusiliers, which is better known as the' 2nd Sportsmen's Battalion. MrMcNab is a brother of Mr. Robert McNab. Another brother, Dr. Angus McNab, was reported killed in action during the famous charge of the London Scottish at M.'^sines. \ New ZeMander on board H.M.S. NEW ZEALAND LADIES LEAVE. [from OCR own correspondent.] London, March 2. Nine New Zealand nurses, whoso services have been accepted by the War Office, have left for Fiance. They are :— Nurses Mary Coneys (Dutiedin General Hospital), Agnes' McMillan (Dmiedin General Hospital), Ruth Lindsay (South Hospital), Jessie E. McLeod (Southland ■ Hospital), B. S. Greig (Wellington HosI pital), Kffie L. Craig (who received her li -lining at a hospital in Vancouver), M. lA. Sheridan (Napier Hospital), F- H. Billington, and Eva C. Jordan (Auckland Hospital). Although their departure was quite unofficial and private, the High Commissioner and Mr. Wray Palliser were present to bid them farewell. One interesting fact may be noted : As a rule all nurses serving under the War Office wear a similar uniform, end no badges are allowed. In the case of the New Zealand nurses this nile was partially waived, and they had the letters "N.Z." worked in scarlet silk on their dresses. This departine in their favour was much appreciated by the New Zealand ladies. Nurse McLeod. it will be recollect <l, was ill Brussels in the very curly days of the war, with the Red Cp.-s.

Mrs. Holgite (Wellington) lias uone to Fiance to join the French Flag Nursing Corps at Bordeaux. This corps is coinposed of English nurses for work in the French military hospitals.

Miss Berry, who was matron of the Napier Hospital until she resigned to come for a t:ip to England, is at Blackpool, where she is matron of one of the temporary hospitals for wounded Belgians.

Miss M. Puree!! (Wellington) has been appointed by the St. John Ambulance for service under the British Red Cross Society in France. She experts to leave shortly for her new duty.
