THE FINAL TO-DAY.

The Auckland provincial golf championship meeting and handicap tournament was continued yesterday at Middlemoro links, in ideal weather conditions, the greens and all round play showing marked improvement on the first day. In tho first round of the championship N. R. Muckintosh beat W. H. Grace at the nineteenth hole. W. B. Colbeck boat .1. ('• Burns 6 and 4, F. J. Sharland beat S. Upton 2 and 1, D. Pryde beat P. Hay 3 and I. S. Morpeth bent R 0. Gardner 5 and 1. H. ('. Tonks beat C. V. Gardner 5 and 3, K. M. George beat J. B. Lusk 4 and 2, W. S. Ralph beat D. MacC'ormick '2 up. In the second round X. R. Mackintosh beat W. B. Colbeck at the nineteenth hole, F. J. S'harland beat D. Pryde G and 5. S. Morpeth bent H. ('. Tonks 3 and 1, and W. 8. Ralph beat R. M. George I and 2. 1 .V. R. Mackintosh will meet P. .7. Sharland. and S. Morpeth will meet W. S. Ralph in the semi-final this morning, tho winners to play off the final this afternoon. W. S. Colbeck. with eight strokes allowance, was an easy winner of the bogey handicap played in the morning. At the Easter golf tournament at Invercargill the championship of Southland was won by Dr. Ross, of Dunedin, who beat Ernest Smith, 13 up and twelve to play. Dr. Ross made a new record by doing the first eighteen holes in 73.
