STEADY PROGRESS OF FRENCH IN CHAMPAGNE DISTRICT
NOT A DAY PASSING WITHOUT SOME GAINS. ' ' Times and Sydney Sun Services. (Received March 9. 7.20 p.m.) London, March 8. i The London Times' correspondent at Paris says the wet weather, which set in on Saturday, will probably delay further progress in the Champagne district. This is a pity, because it will give the Germans time to reorganise their defensive position. The French offensive began on February 28.- Not a day has passed since without progress. The total advance at any one point does not amount to a mile, but each day the enemy has a more difficult defence problem, to face.
