INFURIATED GERMANS.

HATRED OF BRITISH. ATTACK ON AIRMAN. London, February IS. The Government Press Bureau states that the American Ambassador in Berlin has forwarded a sworn declaration concerning Lieutenant Briggs, the British airman, who was captured in November owing to his petrol tank having a hole shot in it. Briggs received a grazing bullet wound in the ear. After Briggs landed a German soldier at a distance of 40vds fired five shots without effect. Briggs then lifted up his hand?. Soldiers and civilians dragged him out of his machine, and while he was leaning downwards he received a heavy blow, presumably from a rifle butt. A German officer saved Briggs's life by standing between him and the onrushing crowd and threatening to shoot anyone touching the British airman.
