GERMAN ACCOUNT OF EAST PRUSSIAN FIGHTING.
GREAT CAPTURE OF MEN AND GUNS CLAIMED. THREE THOUSAND PRISONERS TAKEN NEAR PLOCK. Amsterdam, February 18. \n official Berlin message says that the Germans took 3000 prisoners near Piock and Racionz. The captures east-ward of the Prussian frontier to date total 64.000 prisoners, 71 cannon, 100 machine guns, three ambulance trains, 150 full ammunition waggons, and innumerable cars and horses.
ENEMY'S OFFENSIVE FORESEEN BY RUSSIA. STRATEGIC RETIREMENT TO BETTER POSITION. (Received February 20, 1.10 a.m.) Petrogsad, February 19. An official statement says that it is necessary to exercise secrecy regarding the East Prussian operations. The German movement was foreseen a fortnight before it occurred, and precautionary measures were taken. The Russians retired in order to tire the enemy, and occupied a concentrated position.
