REQUESTS FOR WHEAT.

SHORTAGE IN AUSTRALIA.

NEW SOUTH WALES SUPPLIES

NOT TO BE DEPLETED.

By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright

(Received February 10. 11.30 p.m.)

Sytinet, February 19. The W heat Board has decided that ro more wheat is to be exported from atw South ales to anv place. Tli is means that Victoria, West Australia, and South Australia will have to purchase from outside sources. As regards flour, it is stated that applications from neighbouring States will be sympathetically dealt with, and it is understood that other States will be allowed to obtain normal supplies at a stipulated price. Presumably, this also applies to New Zealand, should the Dominion still desire to obtain a supply of wheat, but in the absence of definite information regarding the exact number of bushels of wheat available, the board is apparently not desirous of making a. definite statement regarding quantities and prices. Nothing has been yet decided as to the payment for wheat supplied to New Zealand. Mr. D. R. Hall, Attorney-General, states that applications for wheat loans have been made to New South Wales by all the other States. Victoria's requirements are a hundred thousand bushels immediately, and a two hundred thousand bushel loan. Tasmania wants ten thousand bushels a month.
