Dr. George Brown, C'.M.Z.S., eaiied in the Moeraki to-day to attend the New Zealand Methodist Conference. The Roy. Dr. Brown is a. ,notable missionary of the South Seas, where r.e spent 48 years, and he has held many prominent positions in connection with the missionary work of the Methodist Chun h. The Svdney Morning Herald eaid of him:—"ln nearly half-a-century oi work lr th-; South S<-as, Dr. Brown acquired a. remarkable knowledge of the Polynesian races, much of which will remain a permanent possession of science, and the part ha has played in the spread of peace and civilisation gives him a just claim to a prominent place in the annais of the Pacific." He is now 80 years of ace.
