MINING COMPANY PROSECUTED. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OTO OOfiRESPOJfDESt,^ Paebqa, Friday. % A cafe of considerable importance to . mineowners was heard at the Magis- ! trate s Court, when the Rising Sns Gold Mining Company was charged ~ with failing to clear noxious weeds from its special quartz claim at Owharoa. Mr. H. T. Gillies appeared for the noxions weeds inspector and Mr. T. A. Moresby - for the company. Mr. Gillies's contention was that tha company was the occupier of the land - - within the meaning of the Noxious Weeds Act, and was therefore liable. Mr. Moresby's answer was that the • company only held a license to mine aid had no exclusive rights to the surface of the land. 0$ ; t ' r The magistrate reserved his decidon, and it was intimated that whatever way the judgment is given there will probably be an appeal to the Supreme Court to - ; have the matter settled. .-S?; "
