SWIMMING.

KAHANAMOKU FOR WELLINGTON. By Telegraph—Press —Copyright. (Received February 19, 330 p.m.) Sn>sET, February 19. Xahanamoku and Canha, the Hawaiian swimmers, were passengers for Wellington by the steamer Moeraki to-day. m CHELTENHAM CLUB. The Cheltenham Swimming Club will hold a small gala on Cheltenham Beach next Saturday, when the following events will be decided:—Boys under 16yrs 50yds handicap; Old Sports, 50yds Handicap; Ladies' 50yda Handicap; Fancy Dive from Beach; 220 yds Hart Cup Handicap. Special interest is being taken in this carnival as the first of the Hart Cup handicaps will be decided. Two races are bwum annually for the cup, which is awarded on points. The winner last year was F. H. Masters, who is now with the expeditionary force in Egypt.

MOTOR-BOATING.

AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION

In spite of the rain which fell on Saturday morning and part of the afternoon, 24 launches, filled with passengers, assembled at the man-of-war steps, but the rain keeping some late the start was delayed until about 3 p.m. The committee altered, the picnic ground to Hobsonville. and as the procession was excluded the launches went on their own. On arrival at the wharf the children's races were held, and every child was soon in the possession of a toy. Tea was then partaken, after which the dinghy and other races were held. One outstanding feature of the afternoon was Mr C. J. Collings's Fleetwing, which was placed at the disposal of the committee for the purpose of assisting the Belgian Fund and giving the a short trip in the fastest launch in New Zealand. Everyone wanted to have the trip, and Mr. Collings was kept busy until almost going home time The result was that from donations received the fund will be increased by £1 2s 6d. The races resulted as follows: — Ladies' dinghy race: Miss Harper, 1: Miss Bartleet. 2. Gent.'s dinghy race: T. Morgan. 1. P. Smith. 2: S. Leyland, 3. Ladies' running race: Miss A. Keris, 1; Miss Doris Green. 2. Tug-of-war, six aside. was won by Bach. Stott, Pearce, Thomson. Booth, and MackieThe launches present at the picnic were: Mavis. Wniara, Pastime. Lizard. Emblem, Seabird. Sister Dors. Symbol, Kirita. \ttoca, Roma. Gertie. Mavis 8.. Jean. Kotahi, ■Pleetwinf. Nairobi, Hazel. Speedwell, Regina. Harinui.
